The DM vectors (grey arrows) are placed at the center of the line connecting the center atom (red sphere) and its corresponding neighbor (green sphere). The length of the DM vector is proportional to its magnitude and also reflects the orientation in space. Note the rapid decay in the magnitude of DM vectors with distance; see also Fig. 1.
